Upgrading to a new office space is a big move for your company to make. There’s all the hassle of packing up, keeping track of boxes, arranging moving days and getting everything up and running as soon as possible.
However, there are plenty of good reasons to rent a new office. We’ve put together a list of some of the common signs it’s time to upgrade your office situation.
You’re short on space
This is got to be the most obvious reason to move offices. If you’ve been holding off hiring new people because you’ve simply not got the room, then you’ll need to do it soon before it stunts your growth.
It could end up costing you more money to stay put because you’re holding your business back.
Trying to stuff extra desks into your current office is only going to create an overcrowded workspace that leaves your employees unhappy.
Your office is hard to find
If you’re based in the middle of nowhere and it’s making it hard for staff and clients to get to, it might be time to think about a new location. It doesn’t look good if none of your clients or partners can find you and can lead to a bad first impression. Moving to a better location means that you can bring your company to the people that need it.
Not everyone drives so it’s handy for you to have good transport links by your office. If you don’t currently, this could become more of a problem the more staff you hire, particularly for younger staff and apprentices who are less likely to drive.
You want to attract the best employees
When a job candidate walks into your office, it gives them an insight into the company culture and its stature. The physical space can reflect the company’s success. Just look at the likes of Google’s and Facebook’s offices, they look high-tech, modern and fun places to work.
If you want to attract the top talent, then upgrading your office space can go a long way to giving them a good impression and the desire to work for you.
You’ve got no room to expand
Some companies look to expand on their current office by building extensions or buying the office next door. However, if this isn’t an option, you may have to just bite the bullet and move to another site. If an extension is possible, weigh up the costs with moving to see which options is the best possible move for you not just for now but also a few years down the line.
Lacking facilities
Even if you’ve got enough space for desks now, other facilities such as meeting rooms, kitchen areas or storage areas might be lacking that could end up being a problem along the line. Lack of storage space can mean things get disorganised which can then have an impact on daily business and waste unnecessary time.
You can afford it
If you’re in a good place in your business and can afford the extra expense of moving offices, then why not? Being in a good position means you’ll be expanding your client list and staff numbers so moving into a new, bigger office with more facilities is only natural.
